Conservation minded loggers might sound a bit like a paradox, but for the brothers at Pilgrim Logging, it’s the family business. We’ve partnered with Pilgrim Logging on multiple projects at this point. Our first project with them included a week-long film session in the Ozark Mountains. In an environment filled with heavy machinery and falling timber, planning and clear communication were paramount to safety, and the key to a successful shoot. That foundation of trust allowed us to get experimental with our camera rigging! We mounted cinema cameras to running chainsaws, chased logging trucks with drones, and strapped a camera to a falling tree to create the world's largest selfie stick (Guinness, call us). We even had a chance to channel our inner Burt Reynolds (the Bandit, not the bearskin rug) to deliver a custom trucking montage at our client’s request.
For round two, the intensity ramped up at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve in Bentonville, AR following a tornado that tore through the region. We captured a glowing client testimonial while documenting Pilgrim Logging’s high stakes cleanup efforts. Their precision work not only saved the canopy, but cleared the danger fast, allowing the park to reopen so locals could get back to shredding the trails safely. Chainsaws, climbing gear, and conservation. Just another day at the office for Crafty Lab Films.
